And a fun way to travel
unless there's big waves or rain.
| Location in Sihanoukville, the ferry is located about a kilometer after the Port on the road to Steung Hauv. In Koh Kong, the ferry dock is about 15 minutes by road from the Thailand border in the town of Koh Kong. The ferry leaves Koh Kong to SihanoukVille at 8 a.m. (it usually leaves late), and 9:30am from Sihanoukville to Koh Kong. The trip is about 4 hours. |
Prices Costs $25. Most guesthouses and hotels can get you your ticket. In Koh Kong, you can get a motorycycle taxi from the border to the ferry for about 70 Baht (8,000 Cambodian Riel, or $2). This should include the toll across the bridge as well. A car costs about $12 for up to 4 people. Sihanoukville, between the ferry dock and Victory Hill, about a dollar, and $1.25 to Ocheteaul Beach or the downtown area. Both places, you can usually get a car for about 5 times the price and get up to 4 people in the car. |
| Other Services The ferry stops halfway through the 4 hour journey on the island of Koh S'Daik for 5 minutes. You can stay at the one guesthouse on the Island for about $7. The price to to and from Koh S'Daik is $15 from either Koh Kong or SihanoukVille. Drinks are served aboard the ship. The ride is generally comfortable, with air-conditioning inside, (or you can sit on the roof). Great view of the islands as you pass by. If there are big waves in the ocean, the boat will be cancelled for that day, and you can get a refund. |
